We have photographed weddings at The Dodford Inn and it is one of our favourite local venues. It sits in quiet countryside just outside Bromsgrove, a few minutes from where we live, and it gives couples gardens, woodland and open views without having to travel far.
About The Dodford Inn
The Dodford Inn is on Whinfield Road in Dodford, Bromsgrove. The venue describes itself as a family-owned and run countryside wedding venue set in around six acres of its own gardens and woodland, with panoramic views. The whole premises is licensed for civil ceremonies, which means you can marry outside in the grounds or inside, and the adjacent main bar works as a cosy snug during the evening reception.
Its published packages include exclusive use of the venue, a bridal party dressing room from the morning, a ceremony archway and overnight accommodation for a small number of guests. Packages and dates change, so always check the latest details directly with the venue.

The best photography opportunities
Outdoors
The gardens and the edges of the woodland give us a lot of variety in a small area: open lawns for the ceremony and drinks, trees for soft shade and framing, and the long views across the countryside for wider portraits that show where you married. On a bright day we look for the shade under the trees so skin tones stay soft.
Indoors
Inside, the bar and dining spaces have the warm, relaxed feel of a country inn. We use window light for preparations and speeches, and add small, discreet flash later in the evening so the room still feels like it did on the night.

Preparations
With a dressing room on site, getting ready can happen at the venue. One of us will photograph the bridal preparations while the other covers the groom or partner, or the final setting up of the ceremony and room details.
The ceremony
If you marry outdoors, we will take a look at where the sun will be at your ceremony time so neither of you is squinting into it. With two photographers we can cover the aisle and your faces without walking about during the vows.
Group photographs
The lawns give plenty of space for large family groups. We plan a short list with you beforehand and use the ushers to help gather people, so groups are done quickly and everyone can get back to the drinks.
Couple portraits
We usually take you for fifteen to twenty minutes after the groups, into the gardens and towards the woodland, then return for a few minutes during the evening when the light across the fields softens.
Evening and first dance
As the evening moves into the bar and party space, we switch to capturing dancing, laughter and the people who make the day. We stay well out of the way while still being close enough for real moments.
If the weather changes
Because the whole premises is licensed, an indoor ceremony is possible if the weather turns. Speak to the venue about their wet-weather arrangements and let us know the plan, and we will adapt our portrait locations to doorways, covered areas and trees.

Yes. The venue provides a bridal party dressing room, and with two photographers we can also cover a partner getting ready at the same time.
What happens to photographs if it rains?
We move to covered areas, doorways and indoor spaces, and use umbrellas outside between showers. Rain does not stop good photographs; it just changes where we take them.
Do you travel far to reach The Dodford Inn?
No. We are based in Bromsgrove and Dodford is only a short drive away, so there is no travel charge.
